Young Biologists Days
The Centre of Biosciences SAS, Institute of Animal Biochemistry and Genetics organizes an event for PhD students – specialized mini-symposium “Young Biologists Days”. The symposium is held with a biennial periodicity and this competitive showcase of works of PhD students and graduates of the institutes of the SAS and universities. The symposium is open to participants in three thematic sections:
- Biochemistry and Cell Biology
- Microbiology and Biotechnology
- Animal and Human Physiology
A panel of experts will award the best paper in each section, which is rewarded by the symposium sponsors.
The presented papers will be published in the proceedings with ISBN number.

Drobnica memorial
The Drobnica Memorial is a meeting of young scientists with more experienced ones for the purpose of sharing new results and supporting young scientists in a pleasant, almost family-like, atmosphere. This meeting is named in honour of the eminent Slovak scientist prof. Ľudovít Drobnica, who at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Slovak University of Technology (now FCHPT STU) was devoted to research on the effect of isothiocyanates and other SH reagents. Co-organized by the Centre of Biosciences SAS, Institute of Molecular Physiology and Genetics. The 13th Drobnica Memorial will be held on 04.- 06.09.2024 in the Trubárka Chalet near Trenčín.

Seminar of doctoral students dedicated to the memory of academician Boďa
The seminar of PhD students dedicated to the memory of academician Boďa is a scientific event organized annually in autumn by the Centre of Biosciences SAS, Institute of Animal Physiology in cooperation with UVMF and PRIF UPJŠ in Košice.
Academician Boďa was one of the leading veterinary physiologists in Slovakia, whose professional career was connected with several institutions in Košice.
The aim of the event is to provide PhD students in Košice in biological sciences with a space to gain practical experience in the two most important areas of presenting their own scientific research results, in presenting results in oral and written form.
The seminar includes a competition for the best PhD students’ thesis. The papers are published in peer-reviewed proceedings.
