On September 27, 2024, the Centre of Biosciences SAS participated in the 18th edition of the Night of Science, with stands in both Bratislava and Košice.
In Bratislava, the Institute of Molecular Physiology and Genetics and the Institute of Animal Biochemistry and Genetics presented a stand titled: From Genes to Organisms – Unveiling the Secrets of Life’s Complexity. Visitors enjoyed interactive activities, including scientific quizzes, experiments, and fun games like a DNA model demo and a cell and “sperm” memory game. We also explored important topics such as genetic modification, neuron function, and animal welfare. Attendees could even create their own lipid and learn more about how neurons and brains work in humans and birds.
Additionally, we hosted a workshop titled BRAINstorming at the Centre of Biosciences, offering hands-on exploration into how the brain functions, neuron communication, and how brain activity is linked to processes like fertilization.
In Košice, the Institute of Animal Physiology ran a stand titled Health Begins in the Gut. This stand focused on the importance of digestive health for immunity and overall well-being, featuring interactive models explaining digestion and the role of gut microbiota.
